Leon Focker, born in 2000 in Radebeul (Germany), is a composer of contemporary, primarily electronic music. He likes to think of sound as an autonomous entity that is quite physical, yet fleeting. He is particularly fascinated by unplaceable sounds and by the emergence of new, abstract sonic gestalts from unassuming elements.

Er begreift Klang am liebsten als eigenständige, physische und zugleich flüchtige Entität. Ihn faszinieren insbesondere schwer greifbare Klänge und die Emergenz neuer, abstrakter Klanggestalten aus unscheinbaren Elementen.
In his work, he explores experimental and algorithmic approaches. A key source of inspiration is the formalization and subsequent deconstruction of musical principles, which he employs as fundamental compositional tools. To support this approach, he develops various programs, which he makes freely available as open-source software.
In seiner Arbeit beschäftigt er sich mit experimentellen und algorithmischen Ansätzen. Eine wesentliche Inspirationsquelle ist die Formalisierung und anschließende Dekonstruktion musikalischer Prinzipien, die er als grundlegende Gestaltungsmittel nutzt. Für diese Arbeitsweise entwickelt er verschiedene Programme, die er frei und quelloffen zur Verfügung stellt.
His interest in new and multimedia performance concepts centers on the possibility of integrating music into public spaces and turning sound into a shared experience. In addition to his own concert formats, his pieces have been performed at the NOW! Festival, o-festival, FullDome Festival Jena, the Visiodrom in Wuppertal, and the DEGEM annual concert, among others.
Sein Interesse an neuen und multimedialen Aufführungskonzepten gilt vor allem der Möglichkeit, Musik in den öffentlichen Raum zu integrieren und als gemeinsame Erfahrung erlebbar zu machen. Neben eigenen Konzertformaten wurden seine Stücke u. a. im NOW! Festival, o-festival, FullDome Festival Jena, im Visiodrom Wuppertal und beim Jahreskonzert der DEGEM aufgeführt.
