Swelling (German: schwellen) and pomposity (German: Schwulst) are the central themes in this piece. For example, the swell pedal of the organ plays a special role: It is no longer just a volume control, but the interface with which the organist controls the live electronics. Swëlst is also an exploration of the sublime, and of pathos, if you will, that is often inherent in an organ.

Schwellen und Schwulst, das sind die zentralen Themen in diesem Stück. So spielen zum Beispiel die Schweller der Orgel eine besondere Rolle. Sie sind nicht mehr nur Lautstärkeregler für die Orgel, sondern auch das Interface, mit dem der Organist die Live Elektronik steuert. Swëlst ist außerdem eine Außeinandersetzung mit dem Pathos, das einer Orgel oft innewohnt.
